Semester-Long Rebranding Project
project introduction
For this project, we were assigned to conduct a rebrand for a brand or company based on certain guidelines given to us from the results of a random generator. The restrictions I was given were:
Brand Type: Cultural Institution
Core Challenge: Unify multiple departments under one brand system
Primary Audience: First-time users unfamiliar with the service
Brand Personality Constraint: Must function effectively in multilingual contexts
With these results, I chose my client: The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. It fits within these constraints because it qualifies as a cultural institution, as it brings communities and families together. The brand also includes four total activity locations, including the zoo, aquarium, amusement park, and safari adventure that feel separated and distant. Finally, a zoo is also a great place to target first-time visitors and to include multilingual contexts, especially in such a big city like Columbus.
ideation and process work
As you can imagine, with a semester-long project, there was a lot of process and ideation work throughout. From style, brand identity, logo, print material, social media, merchandise, and packaging, there was a lot of creative thinking and design work involved.
